Take Away Guide ... When Eating Out In Singapore

My 'Take Away Guide' (TAG) to eating out in Singapore.

Just wanted to share a few things with you that I wish I had known beforehand, but didn't when eating out in Singapore.

TAG # 1: Always carry tissues.

Many food courts and casual eateries don't provide any paper napkins, so don't get caught short.

TAG # 2: Chinese restaurants hand out wet towels and peanuts, for a price.

Some chinese restaurants will automatically put down a plate of peanuts and a pre-packed wet towel at the beginning of the meal.  Touch any of these and a charge will be added to your bill.

It's not the money, it's the principle.  Not telling the customer beforehand, it's kind of sneaky don't you think?

TAG # 3: Don't forget to add Service Charge & Govt. Tax.

Restaurants and most cafes in Singapore show prices in 'net'.  So don't forget that 10% service charge and 7% government tax will be added to your final bill.

I'll be adding to this ad hoc, so please feel free to comment or share any other tips that you have.  Thank you.
